A 720Wh pack with a 30A BMS and active cell equalization for under 200 dollars is the kind of spec sheet that makes you stop scrolling. That is exactly what the LFPNERYE 48V 15Ah ebike battery is offering, and it deserves a closer look before you hand over your cash. Most budget 48V packs in this range are 10 or 12 amp hour units with a barebones BMS bolted on. LFPNERYE went a step further, and that is worth talking about.

Specs and Build Quality

First, let's give you the facts. This is a 48volt, 15amp-hour pack, for 720 watt-hours of storage capacity. To put this in perspective, this is approximately one-third larger than a standard 48V 10Ah pack (for example), and therefore, you can expect to travel farther each day without needing a recharge. The dimensions of the pack are: length = 14.47", width = 3.7", height = 3.5". Dry weight = 8.95 lbs. So, it is large enough for a downtube mount, and/or a rear rack mount.

Physical configuration:

The pack features a curved case design. Not only is it attractive looking, but it is designed to shed water rather than pool water. When water runs off the downtube, it follows the curve of the tube. A flat battery case traps water around the seams, which can cause moisture problems. The curved shape allows water to flow off rather than accumulate.

Discharge side connections:

The pack has an xt60 connector on the discharge side. They include both the female and male ends so you don't spend your time searching for adapters. Also included is a battery holder mounting plate, a male T connector, two keys and two anti-vibration pads. These vibration pads are important. A rattling battery mount is how connectors become worn out, and how internal cells begin to fail after many miles of riding. The USB port for charging your phone is a welcome addition to the main purpose of the battery.

Bms, safety & design features

Bms stands for balance management system (or battery management system). It controls voltage levels within individual cells to prevent overcharging and overheating. An active balance management system actively moves charge between cells to ensure they are evenly charged. Some cheaper versions use passive methods to accomplish this - when the voltage of all cells drops below a certain point, it bleeds off excess charge through the highest cell(s), wasting energy as heat and ultimately reducing the overall lifespan of the pack. With an active balancer, charge is moved between cells to maintain equilibrium, resulting in greater longevity.

The bms rating on this pack is 30a. The bms rating tells you the maximum amount of current that the bms can handle. The current ratings help determine what types of motors you can support with this pack. In general, if your motor draws less than 30a at 48volts, you'll be fine. However, if your motor draws more than 30a at 48volts, you may find yourself approaching the limits of safe operation for this pack.

At a minimum, you'll be able to support a 500w motor. More likely, you'll be able to support a 750-1000W motor depending on efficiency losses due to friction etc...

You may also notice that the pack comes with a USB connection. Yes! This pack will allow you to top off your phone while on the go. No more carrying around those annoying little portable chargers.

In terms of warranty, LFPNERYE provides a three-month return policy including resend and/or refund window plus twelve months of free repairs! I'd say that's a good safety net considering there aren't too many reviewers yet.

Reviews

As mentioned earlier, we currently only have about seven total reviews for this product - mostly very positive, with several customers stating that the pack performs well and meets expectations. There are some mixed opinions though, and these are definitely worth reading prior to making a purchase decision. As always, we encourage everyone to read both sides of every story when evaluating products. We'd also like to remind everyone that having only seven reviewers isn't quite the same as having hundreds of reviewers. Therefore, please treat the four-star average with a grain of salt and consider all available data prior to making a purchasing decision. Here's the link again to check reviews and pricing here.

Who Is This For?

This is primarily intended for individuals using a 48v system with motors in the 0-1000W range. That encompasses virtually every standard pedal-assist e-bike up through some heavier duty conversions, builds, and e-motorcycle configurations. The 30A BMS will provide enough juice for a 1000W motor without stressing the cells too much. With 720wh of capacity, you won't have to worry about running down to nearly nothing on your daily commutes.

If you're replacing an older dead pack on a conversion bike, the mounting plate provided along with the anti-vibration mounts will make installation easier than many competing products require you to purchase additional hardware.

Also, if you're commuting frequently and desire to top-up your phone/light/etc...while en-route - this pack now includes a convenient USB charging port!

And finally, if you are still comparing this option with others before deciding - refer back to our article outlining the best ebike batteries in order to compare the 720wh capacity offered by LFPNERYE to its competition. Faqs

Will This battery Work with My 1000w Motor?

Yes! The 30amp bms will supply sufficient current for motors up to about 1000W @48v.

If your motor requires more than 30amps @48v then you will want to select a pack with a higher amp rating.

What Does 720wh Mean for My Range?

Your actual range is dependent upon your motor characteristics, terrain difficulty and how aggressively you ride - however, compared to a typical 48V 10Ah battery, this represents approximately one-third more storage capacity. Thus, most riders can anticipate significantly increased mileage between recharge opportunities relative to lesser capacity budgets packs.

Does the Curved Case Really Keep Water Out?

No battery is completely waterproof. Do not submerse in water. The curved design simply allows rainwater to flow away from the case edges instead of accumulating water around them while riding in rainy conditions.

What Connectors Come with My New Battery?

They ship with both female and male xt60 connectors on the discharge end (so you won't have to hunt for adapters). Additionally they send you a battery holder mounting plate, a male T connector, two keys, and two anti-vibration mounts. You probably won't need to acquire much else to install it correctly.

How Long Will This battery Last?

According to LFPNERYE specifications: this battery has been rated for more than 1k recharge cycles and possesses an estimated service life of up to five years. While your actual results will depend on how deeply you deplete your battery each day and how frequently you discharge your battery to zero volts (together referred to as 'discharge habits') - this design features active cell equalizing technology that should prolong its useful life better than comparable designs featuring passive cell bleeding technology alone.

What Kind of Warranty Does Lfpnerye Offer?

You receive a three-month money-back guarantee (including resend/refund options) plus twelve months of free repairs! Considering there are only seven reviewers right now - this warranty does offer a bit more peace-of-mind when purchasing from such a new vendor.

If these specs meet your needs for building your bike - this seems like a great deal.
